What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer position at Scout Boats, Inc.?
Scouts design team is looking for a candidate that will work closely with fellow engineers, technicians, and other designers to accomplish assigned tasks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop concepts and design parts for new product design and current product improvements
• Create component and assembly drawings
• Designing and drafting tooling including but not limited to molds, and assembly fixtures with keep cost in mind
• Work from sketches or verbal instructions to create or edit CAD drawings.
• Create and process Engineering Change Notes (ECNs)
• Work with manufacturing and suppliers to optimize design features for manufacturability and ease of assembly
• Proper revision control and CAD file data management
• Keep abreast of all the latest developments and advances made within the trade
• Design, develop, and engineer high-quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools
• Bring concept illustrations to real-scale digital data and assembly drawings
• Send out digital models for rapid prototyping and production tooling
• Lead efforts to consolidate and organize current and archived CAD files and drawings
• Create digital patterns, templates, and/or temporary tooling to aid new boat development
• Proficient with navigating complex assemblies to build complete 3D models and related subassemblies and components
• Must be a hands-on designer, willing to interact and assist production throughout the build process
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical certification
• At least two years’ experience with CAD systems used in Product Development (Rhino 3D)
• Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Understanding of general manufacturing practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Marine manufacturing experience highly preferred
• Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team, environment displaying mutual respect
• Must be able to speak, read and write in English
• Ability to commute/relocate
