We’re looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team in New York City. This in-person role has the potential for a full-time opportunity. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, is comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities, and enjoys keeping financial operations organized and accurate. You'll initially work approximately 15-20 hours per week onsite, supporting critical accounting functions that help drive our business forward. There is a potential for long-term engagement and/or converting to full-time.
- Accurately enter and manage financial data in our accounting system
- Record and process accounts payable, including vendor payments
- Maintain the general ledger and generate regular financial reports
- Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
- Track, record, and reconcile credit card charges
- Process contractor payroll and assist with insurance claim submissions
- Liaise with vendors, internal staff, and external contacts
- Maintain detailed Excel tracking schedules for various business activities
- Manage staff travel expense tracking and ensure timely documentation
- Support internal budgeting processes and financial reporting
- Handle administrative and ad hoc finance-related projects as needed
- Managing Commission Payments to sales representatives
- Deposit checks
- Have at least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, bonus points if you have a background working with small businesses and/or startups
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Are highly organized and meticulous with strong attention to detail
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understand GAAP and core bookkeeping principles
- Are self-motivated, trustworthy, and able to manage your time well
- Thrive working independently while collaborating effectively within a small team
- The lighting industry
- Zoho Books (!!), QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting software
- Payroll platforms (e.g., Gusto)
- Project-based accounting
- Managing health insurance claims and related reimbursements
- Preparing for audits or working with external accountants
- NYC-based or multi-state compliance knowledge
Location: Manhattan, NYC (Chelsea neighborhood)
Type: Flexible, part-time, In-Person (minimum 10-15 hours/week, anticipate 15-20 hours/week)
Compensation: $25-28/hour, with eligibility for up to a 10% bonus based on (i) company and (ii) individual performance
