Server Assistant
The newly reimagined Whaling Bar (opened Spring 2024) is seeking a Server Assistant that works closely with the front-of-house and back-of-house team members. The Server Assistant is responsible for preparing the dining room for service, table maintenance and for delivering all dishes from the kitchen to the appropriate guest in the dining. They will know all of the dishes on the menu and be prepared to answer questions from guests. The Server Assistant is also responsible to prepare and deliver beverages to guests in an efficient and timely manner. They should have the ability to provide the highest standard of service, superior communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle a high-volume environment.
Essential Duties:
Open, close and maintain the dining room and beverage station as needed
Work closely with servers to contribute to a positive dining experience for guests
Be knowledgeable of menu items and cuisine
Maintain table cleanliness and steps of service throughout shift
Polish glassware and cutlery as directed
Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness
Execute on-going, pre- and post-shift side work
Expedite, as needed Competencies & Qualifications:
General knowledge and interest in food and wine with a desire to learn and grow
Actively practice food safety procedures • Able to take direction and complete tasks
Organizational skills with careful attention to detail
Pleasant demeanor and professional composure
Ability to engage guests successfully and build a relationship
Punctual with a strong sense of urgency and work ethic with the ability to multitask
A warm, compassionate, and team-focused approach
Ability to lift up to 25lbs if necessary
Stand for long periods during service
