Announces a new opening for a Consumer Loan Processor, a unique position that entails a diverse set of skills, knowledge, and experience to originate and service the credit union’s consumer loan portfolio. The position requires an equally unique individual who is comfortable balancing between the roles of production and credit risk.
Job Responsibilities:
- Originate, input, process, DMV, docs, fund, book, post docs, loan servicing, reporting
(covering the entire spectrum of loan origination and servicing with primary emphasis in consumer loan processing).
- Provide qualified information to existing and new members.
- Interview applicants and reviews consumer loan application file to verify application data is complete and meets Credit Union standards
- Obtains necessary valuations of the collateral (Blue Book, Carfax, etc.).
- Pull and review credit reports.
- Process loans in accordance with Credit Union policy, guidelines and conform to all
State and Federal Regulations such as the Equal Opportunity Act, Fair Debt Collection
Practices Act., Fair Credit Reporting, Truth in Lending Act, etc.
- Handle consumer servicing related functions including payoffs and title releases.
- Audit consumer loan files.
- Provides quality service to members and cross-sells Credit Union products (including
GAP, MBI & Debt Protection) and services whenever possible.
- Basic business math to calculate income, assets, debts (including Loan-to-Values and debt ratios)
- Strives to achieve productivity expectations and standards.
- Monitor competitor rates, terms, and pricing frequently and makes recommendations as needed to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
- Monitor assigned critical control functions and reports as assigned.
- Assist other departments as needed.
Job Requirements:
- High School or equivalent
- Results oriented with ability to learn.
- Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Word and Excel; familiarity with any Loan Origination System (a plus).
- Teamwork and customer service oriented
- Self-motivated
- Knowledge of direct and indirect (a plus)
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across a variety of audiences.
- Time management: Knowing the cut-off times for funding and underwriting so that the file moves smoothly and does not lose a rate lock.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment
- Perform business development activities to increase production including maintenance of a client database, client and customer calling/monitoring efforts and additional activities as requested by management.
- Manage a loan pipeline and the loan process to ensure loans fund in a timely manner.
- Background clearance
