We’re looking for a Lead Controls Engineer to take ownership of PLC systems, automation improvements, and controls reliability at our Hanover, PA plant. In this role, you’ll be the go-to technical expert for Allen-Bradley and Siemens controls while providing guidance to a small maintenance team (3–5 technicians). This is a high-impact position where you’ll drive system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and help shape the future of automation at the site.

What You’ll Do
- Design, program, and improve PLC systems (Allen-Bradley Siemens).
- Write, modify, and maintain ladder logic and control code for safe, reliable operations.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues (24V–480V).
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 technicians, providing technical direction on automation and troubleshooting.
- Partner with production and engineering to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and automation upgrades.
- Document controls procedures, safety standards, and preventive maintenance steps.
- Oversee the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of automated machinery and equipment.
- Develop and implement procedures to manage maintenance inventories.
- Work with site leadership planning, coordinating and prioritizing maintenance needs with production requirements.
- Work a primarily daytime schedule with flexibility for plant needs in a 24/7 environment.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- 3–5 years of experience in controls engineering or PLC programming.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley; Siemens exposure a plus.
- Ability to write, modify, and troubleshoot ladder logic and control code.
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems (up to 480V).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mindset.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Previous management experience is a plus
- Experience in a manufacturing or 24/7 production environment preferred.
- Drive, initiative, and interest in growing into broader regional engineering leadership over time.
