North Seattle College and South Seattle College are looking to hire Navigators in the Division for Access, Community, and Opportunity.

Salary Range for this position is $67,762 to $93,575 annually (depending on experience).

Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin August 14th, 2025.


Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of the Division for Access, Community, and Opportunity (ACO), the ACO Navigator will develop and implement services, programs and initiatives that facilitate academic success and retention of culturally diverse, marginalized and under-served academically vulnerable students. This position works both independently and collaboratively to assist students throughout their time at Seattle Colleges, including providing wrap-around support and connecting them to other departments as needed. Additionally, this position will provide support for building community partnerships and campus events.

This position collaborates with other staff both within and outside of the department to develop programming that fosters a safe, supportive, and responsive environment grounded in the values of access, community, and opportunity. This position provides collaborative support for Student Leadership and may collaborate with external department staff around student engagement, retention, progress and completion initiatives.

This position may supervise Student and Temporary employees.

This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 8AM-5PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

This position works 4 days in the office, Fridays are virtual.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-SPS

What you will be working on:

  • Assist Director of ACO with departmental administrative tasks.
  • Assist in supervision of the day-to-day operations of the ACO Office including all of the educational program planning and implementation in relation to established programmatic goals and within established programmatic parameters.
  • Develops, supports and promotes transformative educational programming and initiatives that center social justice and critical thought which will tie directly into and drive the college's strategic plan, the diversity action plan and core values.
  • Develops, supports and promotes trainings, community critical dialogue forums and resources for faculty and staff in order to cultivate an inclusive and equitable culture.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty and staff to develop center programming that ensures student participation and creates a diverse, inclusive and safe environment that is accessible to all.
  • Collaborate with Student Leadership and open governance committees.
  • Assist Director of ACO in generating and finalizing departmental documents such as, but not limited to monthly reports, departmental publications, and data analysis.
  • Evaluate programming, assess and respond to evolving needs. Provide data and assessment reports and summaries to supervisor that highlight program accomplishments, challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a peer dialogue and program/workshop facilitator program.
  • Assist Director of ACO in recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating departmental staff, including, but not limited to classified, hourly support staff and student employees.
  • Assist Director of ACO in establishing and achieving yearly departmental goals and generate appropriate departmental documentation and publications.
  • Assist with the planning, forecast and monitoring, and reconciliation of department expenditures and budgets.
  • Maintain student records using appropriate databases, including but not limited to, Starfish and PeopleSoft to ensure that students needs are met
  • Connect students to appropriate campus and community resources And partnerships.
  • Provide leadership support for community and campus partnerships including Benefits Hub, OCEE, Foodline, etc.
  • Work individually with students to problem solve issues that interfere with academic success; advocate on behalf of students with faculty, if necessary.
  • Be accessible to students through office hours, email and phone consultation to address urgent situations or needs.
  • Coordinate, design, implement and participate in ACO events and student organization meetings and events.
  • Provide student progress updates to office of ACO leadership and appropriate partners regarding student performance.
  • Track appointments with students in Starfish and follow up with the students to ensure their needs are met
  • Serve on the Bias Incident Report Support Team (BIRST) and attend monthly meetings.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • Associate's degree or equivalent and three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in office, OR Bachelor's Degree in social sciences, education, human services, college student personnel, counseling psychology, student development or related field, OR equivalent education/experience and three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience
  • Demonstrated experience in providing culturally and equity responsive interventions to underrepresented, marginalized and vulnerable populations
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with creating and coordinating student success programs
  • Demonstrated organizational ability and the demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects
