Position Description

Join our team as a Custodian and contribute to maintaining a clean, welcoming environment in our residence halls! Responsibilities include performing general custodial tasks such as vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, dusting, washing walls, mirrors, and windows, making beds, and collecting and disposing of garbage. Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain facilities including vacuuming, shampooing carpets, stripping floors, cleaning windows & furniture, waxing floors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms and trash removal.
• Aid in the moving of furniture and room set-up and take down for special events.
• Participates in training on cleaning procedures, proper operation of machinery, and safety.
• Participates in the quarterly deep cleaning of all halls and living areas.
• Perform summer cleaning of rooms, halls, bathrooms, and other living areas as well as making rooms and beds ready for conference guests.
• May serve in an on-call capacity to respond to emergencies.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications

• Skill in cleaning and maintaining institutional or commercial facilities including vacuuming, shampooing carpets, stripping floors, cleaning windows & furniture, waxing floors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms and trash removal.
• Skill in communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Working in a safe manner.

Physical Activities/Requirements

• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Compensation at a Glance

Salary Range: $22.00 per hour

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
