PURPOSE:
Maintains and is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of general ledger account reconciliations. Reconciles accounts on a daily and monthly basis ensuring reporting is accurate at the account and branch level.
DIMENSIONS:
This is entry level accounting work which requires a knowledge and understanding of accounting principles. The accounts being reconciled are of high volume but have less complexity requiring more account specific knowledge versus an in depth understanding of credit union operations.
DUTIES:
Reconciles General Ledger and deposit accounts ensuring ledger data is in agreement with subsidiary reports and deposit account reconciliations are in agreement with the bank statements.
Analyzes and verifies transactions and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
Responsible for accounting research, preparing and keying any required journal entries, and preparing daily and monthly reconciliation reports from records maintained.
Applies laws, regulations, and policies including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to the maintenance of financial reports.
Maintains current written procedures of assigned reconciliations. Creates more efficient reconciling and reporting processes using Excel macros and Microsoft Access.
Assists branch personnel and other departments in accurately reporting to the general ledger.
Completes vendor financial reviews.
Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
A four year college degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required. In addition, CPA candidates will be given preference.
2-5 years of Accounting experience.
Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word. Familiarity with Access is a plus but not required.
Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.
Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.
Must complete the Credit Union’s Basic Module Program requirements within 24 months of hire date as a condition of employment.
JOB ENVIRONMENT:
Office setting with physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Currently working 50% remote.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.
Must be able to communicate via phone calls and Webex.
