Great Place to Work® Most Loved Workplace® Forbes Best-in-State Employer Director Pool Administration PRIMARY PURPOSE: To oversee both Sedgwick pooling client operations for the given pool client(s) as well as overall management of the local program administration department. To manage and coordinate all services, both internal to Sedgwick and external service providers, required for a self-insured public entity risk pool. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for overall management of the regional (CA, MI, TX) program administration department including team performance, clients’ satisfaction and service delivery, and performance to budget goals. Works autonomously reporting directly to the client(s) regarding day-to-day management and operations of all pooling client’s activities (appointed as executive director or general manager in some jurisdictions). Oversees program administration operations for the pool coordinating with internal staff responsible for accounting and finance, underwriting, risk control, and claims. Conducts client meetings in conjunction with the board chair and service team. Effectively prepares presentations and presents information to internal and external customers in all venues (general manager, executive committee, board, etc.). Effectively represents the client’s policies, programs, and services with colleagues, member agencies, other agencies, internal and external customers, and members of the public. Oversees formation of new groups, addition of new members, underwriting, accreditation, etc. Works with internal and external parties to ensure completion of the program budget, annual reporting, and financial statements. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned. Supports the organization's quality program(s). Travels as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance. Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations. Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification or other comparable risk management designations preferred or required within 180 days of hire. Experience Ten (10) years of risk management, public agency, and/or related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Supervisory experience required. Skills & Knowledge Ability to present information effectively to small and large groups and respond to questions Ability to exercise sound judgment and develop effective proactive solutions to challenges Strong project management skills with the ability to organize and plan projects over extended periods of time and coordinate with other contributors to ensure timely execution Ability to recognize politically sensitive situations and work with the appropriate party(ies) to resolve or address situations Working knowledge of fiscal activities such as budgeting, invoicing, structuring of rates, and distributions Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills PC literate, including Microsoft Office products Analytical and interpretive skills Strong organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills Proven management/leadership skills Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports Ability to work in a team environment Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies WORK ENVIRONMENT When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodations. As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 USD/year.
