This is a professional, salaried position in the Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) that analyzes primary and secondary public health data and leads SCHD and community partners with the planning and implementation of the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The Community Health Analyst leads the health assessment portion of the CHA and monitors and reports on the community’s progress on the CHIP. Consultation and collaboration with internal Health Department staff and external health partners is required. The work of the Community Health Analyst guides community and SCHD efforts to improve the health of Sedgwick County residents.
Lead SCHD and coordinate partner activities for the Community Health Assessment (CHA)
Lead SCHD community assessment activities, including community surveys and partner meetings
Update and revise the CHA with new information or data from partners
Communicate results of the CHA to community partners
Write CHA reports for internal and external partners
Collect, analyze and report primary and secondary health data
Maintain the health assessment data tracking system
Accurately update, analyze and report required information on health status indicators
Collect and analyze chronic disease data and communicate results to internal Health Department staff, external health partners and the public through presentations, written reports, scientific posters and peer-reviewed journal articles
Respond to data requests from individuals and organizations that request data
Monitor and lead the implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
Lead the development of the three-year CHIP
Work with community groups to implement strategies identified in the CHIP
Monitor CHIP activities reported by community partners
Maintain CHIP reporting system
Write CHIP reports for internal and external partners
Drive to meetings with community partners
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field such as public health; public administration; a biological, medical or health science; or communications. Three semester hours of coursework in epidemiological methods, data analytics and/or statistics. One year of data analysis and data management experience. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. In order to comply with the requirements of the federal health care staff COVID-19 vaccination mandate, all employees of COMCARE and the Health Department must be fully vaccinated. All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of vaccination documentation prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications: Master of Public Health or related masters such as public administration, biological, medical, health science, or communications. Five years of experience in public health, including community assessment and program evaluation. Three years of data analysis and data management experience. Two years of experience working with multiple community organizations.
