JOB TITLE: Transportation Dispatch WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Transportation Coordinator PAY GRADE: Clerical /Tech 4

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Maintains communication with bus drivers regarding student issues, traffic hazards, route changes, and mechanical problems using radio, telephone, or other communication devices. May assign drivers, substitutes, or equipment to routes. Reports to the coordinator of transportation or transportation supervisor. Maintain contact between drivers, the transportation office, administrators, and parents.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications
High School graduate/GED
Clear and valid Texas CDL license (class B) with “S” and “P” endorsements
TEA Certified
Ability to pass alcohol and drug screening tests
Ability to pass a yearly DOT physical

Preferred
1 years’ experience as a certified school bus driver or dispatcher
Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of school bus laws, rules, and regulations
• Ability to receive and give verbal instructions clearly and effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students, parents, or employees of the

district

• Ability to multitask
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to problem-solve
• Ability to maintain a customer-oriented attitude and emotional control under stress
• Knowledge of student management
• Computer literacy and excellent telephone etiquette skills
• Knowledge of the area, street names, school locations, and boundaries
