Job Summary
This lumber yard associate will be a temp to hire part time to full time position, working a flexible schedule between the hours of 7:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday with consistent schedule and benefits after 90 days. Will be responsible for handling, stocking, and ensuring customer satisfaction. They work under a yard manager and are expected to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. In addition, a Yard Associate must also participate in the delivery operations, maintaining accuracy of product entering and leaving the yard as well as building loads for delivery
Duties
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and offering assistance with product selection.
- Load materials into customers' vehicles or on to company delivery vehicles.
- Utilize basic math skills for retail math calculations to ensure accurate pricing and inventory management.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members to foster a positive shopping environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations while handling lumber products.
- Operate forklift to merchandise and stock yard and warehouse.
- Perform other assigned job duties and responsibilities as requested by the Yard Manager.
- Assist truck drivers in delivery of merchandise to homeowners and job sites using company equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred in many of the tasks. Will train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry is desired, but not required.
- Ability to demonstrate effective phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors.
- Experience in merchandising and stocking items efficiently.
- Basic math skills required for cash handling and retail calculations.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse customer bases.
- Regular, reliable and dependable attendance.
