What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Administrator position at Sekon?

SeKON is seeking a Network Administrator to support NIH NIDCD IT Services. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Administrator to support the installation, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of wide-area networks (WANs) and local-area networks (LANs) within our agency. The role involves managing network infrastructure, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, and resolving complex network issues.

 

With over 25 years of experience, SeKON specializes in providing large-scale health IT programs in support of federal government customers including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH). RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain WAN and LAN systems across the agency.
  • Assist in designing and managing WAN infrastructure, including related processes.
  • Provide production support for networks, including daily operations, monitoring, and client network problem resolution.
  • Conduct second-level problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Coordinate and support the dispatch of circuit and hardware vendors for issue resolution.
  • Escalate and communicate status updates to agency management and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain working knowledge of various software systems, architectures, communication protocols, and network hardware devices.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in network administration, including WAN and LAN environments.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving network issues, including second-level problem resolution.
  • Familiarity with network hardware devices, communication protocols, and software systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with network architecture design and optimization.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques for complex network environments.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or similar are a plus.
