Title: Outreach Assistant
Department: Employment Training and Economic Development
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Operations Manager
Summary: Responsible for a wide range of coordination of the Department programs’ outreach, day-to-day delivery of direct services, and developing relationships with employers, local businesses, and organizations. Provide technical assistance to small businesses in the designated neighborhood as needed.
Essential Functions:
⦁ Assist in identifying, developing, and maintaining for workforce development, small businesses, and local community-based organizations partnerships.
⦁ Stay on top of current resources for small businesses and workforce development. Maintain program resources database.
⦁ Provide information, referrals, and counseling on small business resources, and workforce and emergency preparedness training opportunities.
⦁ Assist clients in registration and/or providing other needed assistance.
⦁ Assist in developing program marketing materials, including brochures and other methods to advertise program services.
⦁ Attend outreach events to promote programs for ETED in the different community events, such as street events, workshops, and meetings.
⦁ Conduct door-to-door outreach and provide technical assistance to small businesses in the designated neighborhood as needed.
⦁ Develop and translate bilingual training materials and simulation tools. Maintain and ensure updates of bilingual training materials.
⦁ Provide support in compiling and analyzing programs’ surveys to assess and capture problem areas. Follow-up on action items from survey critiques to ensure corrective action is taken.
⦁ Assist with preparing reports as required by funding sources.
⦁ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in human services, business administration, marketing, social work, or related field, may be substituted with relevant experience.
⦁ Experience in providing training, health, social, or aging services to diverse communities.
⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
⦁ Must be self-motivated, organized, and able to multitask under minimal supervision.
⦁ Proficient in MS Office and the Internet.
⦁ Must be bilingual and bi-literate in English and Cantonese. Bilingual in Toishanese and/or Mandarin a plus.
⦁ Must be available to work weekends and evenings as needed.
⦁ Must have and maintain a valid CA driver license, satisfactory driving record, and auto insurance coverage as specified in Self-Help’s policy.
