Title:                  Registered Dietitian

Department:    Nutrition and Senior Centers

FLSA Status:    Exempt

Reports To:        Director

Summary:    Responsible for menu development, preparation of nutrition education activities, and developing of in-service training for nutrition programs in San Francisco, San Mateo County, and Santa Clara County. Assists with supervising department staff and overseeing operations for compliance as needed. 

Essential Functions:            

⦁ Works with caterers to develop and certify menus to meet the funder’s guidelines and clients’ needs; works with program staff on menu substitutions for special events. Certifies menu substitutions and keeps documents on file.

⦁ Submits Nutrition Program menus and nutrition analysis to the Department of Disabilities and Aging Services (DAS) of San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties.

⦁ Works with program managers to complete DAS nutrition compliance. Ensure nutrition sites comply with federal, state, and local regulations and standards. 

⦁ Conducts kitchen assessment to ensure the caterer kitchen complies with DAS, local Health Department, and program standards. 

⦁ Assists the Director with the preparation for DAS audit and monitoring.

⦁ Collects client feedback and works with caterers to maintain quality meal services.

⦁ Plans and coordinates all nutrition education activities, including teaching material development and compilation of resources on file. 

⦁ Develops in-service training schedule and resources for staff and volunteers.

⦁ Assists with supervising department staff and overseeing operations for compliance as needed. 

⦁ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

⦁ Must possess a current Registered Dietitian license with at least one year of work experience with older adults. 

⦁ Must be familiar with Asian dietary culture and know about quality Asian ethnic food planning and quality control.

⦁ Must possess California Food Protection Manager Certification within 3 months of employment.

⦁ Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

⦁ Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

⦁ Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Cantonese.

⦁ Proficient in MS Office, Chinese Word Processing, and the internet. Familiar with NutriBase 16.

⦁ Must pass a strength test for physical fitness for the job prior to employment: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. from floor to waist level and withstand physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, standing, walking, etc.
