What are the responsibilities and job description for the ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST position at Seminole Tribe of Florida?

The individual in this position supports the External Environmental Compliance Department (EECD) within the Environmental Protection Office (EPO) by providing technical expertise on off-reservation projects that may affect the Seminole Tribe of Florida's lands, interests, or ancestral territories and ceded lands. The incumbent assists in the review of projects to ensure compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations and processes and other actions that require environmental assessments or impact statements. The NEPA Specialist evaluates environmental impacts, assesses the validity and probability of direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts from proposed external actions, critiques NEPA documentation provided to staff, and may coordinate with various stakeholders and ensure timely completion of project deliverables. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of natural, physical, social or environmental sciences; archeology or cultural resources; or civil engineering is required. Prior Experience reviewing environmental assessments (EAs) and environmental impact statements (EISs) in accordance with NEPA requirements is preferred. Familiarity with related environmental laws is required. An equivalent combination of education / training and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Florida Drivers License is required. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Must have the ability to travel through reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
