Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illnesses while advancing the field of neuroscience.
The Referral Coordinator will manage referrals from patients and doctors/referring offices.
The typical hours for this position would be Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This employee also has the option of being hybrid where somedays would be worked on site and others remotely.

Requirements
We are searching for a candidate who:
- Answer questions from Contact Center employees to resolve issues encountered on calls and with referrals
- Manage referrals , ensuring that they are addressed in a timely manner and schedule appointments when possible
- Maintain provider relationships and troubleshoot issues and concerns related to, or from, Providers or other clinical staff members
- Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patients and/or referring physician offices are provided with professional communication relative to the status of the requests
- Triage referral requests that need more specific advice from the nurse or other clinical staff; identify emergent or urgent calls/referrals and handle according to established guidelines
- Maintain current knowledge of Providers’ Criteria, OON/In Network Insurances, Clinic employees/roles and procedures/protocols
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience in the healthcare field, as well as heavy telephone usage and strong customer service experience/focus. Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws is preferred, and bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Internet software, electronic medical records and practice management software. Organizational skills with attention to detail is required.
