SUMMARY

The FSQA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily execution of food safety and quality assurance programs on the manufacturing floor, ensuring strict adherence to FDA regulations, SQF System requirements, and all company FSQA standards. This role supervises FSQA Specialists/Technicians and production personnel on quality and food safety practices, providing guidance and support to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise and guide FSQA Specialists/Technicians and production staff in the utilization of established FSQA systems, resources, and procedures to ensure consistent adherence to food safety and quality standards.

· Oversee daily operations to ensure that products, processes, facilities, and systems conform to FDA regulations, SQF System standards, and other applicable regulatory authority requirements (e.g., cGMPs).

· Diligently follow, maintain, and enforce all FSQA systems and procedures, including but not limited to, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Fraud prevention, Food Defense plans, Pest Control, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), Foreign Material Control, and Document Control. Ensure team compliance with these procedures.

· Verify ongoing compliance of FSQA systems through routine observations, documentation checks, facility walkthroughs, and active participation in internal audits.

· Perform final review of all Master Manufacturing Records to ensure completeness and compliance.

· Review lab results and generate COAs. Elevate OOS material to FSQA Manager.

· Ensure that all Critical Control Point (CCP) procedures are being rigorously followed by staff, and that all CCP documentation is complete, accurate, and reviewed promptly. Report and assist in the investigation of any CCP deviations.

· Report observed GMP and SQF System violations and actively assist the FSQA Manager in the Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) process, including root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.

· Actively participate as a member of the Food Safety (HACCP) and Quality Committee, contributing to system development and review.

· Assist the FSQA Manager with customer requests regarding food safety and quality, providing accurate data, documentation, and support for investigations.

· Support the FSQA Manager in ensuring compliance with the Employee Training Program, which may include conducting or assisting with training sessions for employees on FSQA procedures and annual refreshers.

· Perform or oversee in-house testing for incoming raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.

· Assist with FSQA Specialist/Technician duties as needed, providing hands-on support, troubleshooting, and guidance.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure team participation in facility housekeeping and sanitation efforts.

· Participate in and support preparations for internal, customer, regulatory (FDA), and third-party (SQF) audits.

SQF System Responsibilities

· Strive for continuous improvement of SQF systems by identifying opportunities for enhancement and recommending solutions to the FSQA Manager.

· Ensure all regulatory requirements are being met at an operational level.

· Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System at the supervisory level.

· Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.

· Promote food safety and quality awareness throughout the organization.

· Adhere to and ensure company-wide compliance with policies and procedures relating to product/food safety and quality.

· Express concerns and offer solutions regarding product/food safety and quality issues.

· Report all major or minor product/food safety/quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Qualifications

To be successful, you will need

· 3-5 years of experience in a quality assurance role within food or supplements manufacturing.

· Experience in supervising a team.

· Familiarity with HACCP principles.

· Understanding of SQF, Organic, Kosher, non-GMO, and Vegan certification requirements.

· Experience assisting with or conducting internal audits.

· Basic microbiological background or experience in environmental sampling.
