Primary Purpose

This is a San Diego based Baja Call-in Position.
Executive Protection Agent-II performs executive protection duties and other security related services for executive leadership, members of the Board of Directors, and other designated personnel. Devoting full attention to the security mission and principles of Executive Protection, the Executive Protection Agent-II provides the protectee with a safe environment free from both physical harm and embarrassment. The duties include driving or accompanying the protectee to/from work sites, special events or business engagements. The Agents are responsible for the safety and well-being of the protectee in his/her care and must take appropriate action in the event that the protectee becomes ill/injured and/or confronted by hostile persons. Receive direct supervision from the International Security & Executive Services Manager, additionally will regularly receive direction or instruction from Executive Protection Lead Agents. Duties will be performed domestically and in Baja California, Mexico.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet at protectee’s residence, place of employment, or other designated location at the time required each assigned day.
  • Responsible for the for safety and security of assigned protectee.
  • Prepare safe transportation routes, evaluating the security of the protectee’s designated meet location or destination, whether at a residence, business, airports, or event, at departure and arrival times.
  • Completing advances on destination points, and maintaining a presence/readiness when necessary at special functions or events.
  • Perform general vehicle maintenance of assigned fleet. Duties will be performed in both Baja California, Mexico and in the United States.
  • Conduct site advances at off-site locations, to include hotels, meetings, restaurants, and special events at both public and private venues. When necessary, complete documentation such as site security reports, operational plans, and presentations. Duties will be performed in both Mexico and the United States.
  • Use computer and application base platforms to complete administrative duties such as completing daily reports, expense reports, timesheet recordkeeping, and other log data entries as directed.
  • Travel with protectee throughout the United States, Mexico, and other international locations, including extended days and weekends.
  • Required to be available to his/her protectee until dismissed or as directed by Executive Protection Lead or International Security & Executive Services Manager.
  • Successfully complete specialized training in executive protection, defensive & security driving, self-defense, certification in First Aid/CPR/AED (automatic external defibrillator), state regulated firearm qualification (CCW), and tactical first responder medicine (also known as TCCC: tactical combat casualty care).
  • Attend security briefings and read intelligence reports affecting crime and safety throughout the Southern California and Baja California region.
  • Complete licensing qualifications as required by licensing authority.
  • Provide courier services for sensitive and confidential documents or materials for the assigned principal and other executives or departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

  • H.S. Diploma/GED is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Experience

  • 4 years of experience in law enforcement and/or military service - dignitary protection is required.
  • 4 years of experience working or traveling in Mexico; experience driving in the Baja California border region of Mexico is preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in executive protection in the private sector is preferred.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Bilingual: Ability to communicate (read and speak) in Spanish is required.

The following skills and knowledge are preferred:

  • Knowledgeable of routes and locations throughout Southern California.
  • Knowledgeable of routes and locations throughout Baja California.
  • Ability to use and navigate digital technology or software programs such as Outlook emails/calendars, cell phone applications, and other related web-based applications to communicate and complete administrative tasks.
  • Current in executive protection knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Special event security planning and operations.
  • Residential security assessments.

Licenses and Certificates

Required:

  • Valid California driver license. Safe driving record. No chargeable accidents or violations over the last three (3) years.
  • Retired Law Enforcement Officer under 18 USC 926B & 926C, LEOSA HR-218, or the ability to obtain a California CCW once hired.
  • California issued (BSIS) Guard permit and Firearm Expose Carry permit, or the ability to obtain both cards once hired.

Preferred:

  • Executive Protection driver or protection school certifications.
  • EMT or intermediate/advanced emergency medical certifications.
  • Member of the Department of Homeland Security- Trusted Traveler Program with a Sentri, Global card, or Nexus active membership. With the ability to obtain one of the memberships if hired.

Other Qualifications

  • If hired, must successfully complete an Executive Protection Agent training program in the first six months.
  • Complete within one year the following: Executive Protection and Security Driver courses, obtain BSIS guard/firearm permits/CCW, First Aid/CPR/AEDand tactical medicine courses.
