BASIC FUNCTION :

The Case Supervisor oversees all cases held by Family Support Services (FSS) Case Managers to ensure the safety and well-being of Native children. Case Supervisor assists with the preservation of the family unit through the programs and services offered in accordance with Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and under the applicable authority of the Seneca Nation Indian Child Welfare Act (SNICWA) and Seneca Nation Health System (SNHS), FSS policies and procedures.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Traveling between Irving, NY and Salamanca, NY is required

1. Provides oversight of all cases held by the Case Managers at both territories in accordance with, standards of ICWA, Seneca Nation Indian Child Welfare Act, SNHS and FSS unit policies.

2. Provides training on case management functions.

3. As needed, accompanies and assists with Child Protection investigations, including assessing immediate safety needs of children, developing safety plans, and making case recommendations in collaboration with respective (County) Department of Social Services agency.

4. As needed, assists the Case Managers in the development and maintenance of effective and professional casework relationships.

5. Works in partnership with relevant agencies as part of a multi-disciplinary team approach. Works in conjunction with the Case Manager to develop family / strength-based service plan to reduce the risk of abuse, neglect and maltreatment of children.

6. Provides oversight and assists the Case Managers, in providing emergency services to the family in accordance with SNHS and FSS unit policies.

7. Assists the Case Managers as needed in the coordination of services and delegates responsibilities of other service providers working with the family.

8. Assists the Case Managers as needed to conduct home visits for case planning and to assess for safety, suspected child abuse / neglect and will follow up in accordance with SNHS and FSS unit policies.

9. Accompanies new Case Managers to Nation / Tribal / County Family court hearings, prepares court petitions, submits documents, testifies as needed. Ensures Case Managers follow SNHS and FSS policies in preparation of the submission of court documentation.

10. Oversees the Case Manager in monitoring, tracking, and reporting on progress related to the family / strength-based service plans for a child in care toward reunification.

11. Will assist in the supervision and transportation of children and / or family members to visits between children in care and parents / caregivers as needed.

12. Assists the Case Managers as needed in the development of a concurrent permanency plan for a child in care with the family and / or caregiver and all relevant agencies.

13. Provides oversight of the Case Managers case files in the Famcare system in accordance with SNHS policy standards and reporting guidelines and FSS policies. Ensuring accuracy, completion and proper filing of documents.

14. Will work closely with FSS Supervisors at both territories to ensure all FSS services are consistent across locations.

15. Travel between Cattaraugus and Allegany territories is required. This can include travel during inclement weather.

16. Follows all policies and procedures of the department, Seneca Nation, and SNHS.

17. Required to complete all trainings specific to the Case Manager position, ie. Child Welfare, ICWA, Child Abuse, Goal Planning, trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, understanding substance abusing families, etc.

18. Participate and engage in educational outreach events relevant to FSS mission and vision.

19. Participates and completes all trainings, staff meetings, and in-services

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :

Knowledge of signs and symptoms of substance use, disorders and mental illness.

Ability to maintain effective relationships with community organizations and agencies.

Ability to maintain confidentiality according to the Privacy Act of 1974 and HIPAA.

Must be able to multitask and prioritize in stressful situations.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelors Degree in Social Work or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Services agency required.

CPR and first aid certified, or ability to obtain upon employment.

Valid NYS drivers license required.
