DayAway offers daily engagement through music, art, exercise, and social interaction for individuals who can no longer be left home alone. Our dedicated care team includes LPNs and CNAs trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (Floor Nurse) is a hands-on caregiver who plays a vital role in participant care. This position provides direct support with personal care, administers medications, monitors health status, and ensures safety throughout the program day. This is a non-supervisory role focused on promoting well-being and dignity in a structured, team-oriented setting.
- Administer medications and monitor vitals in line with care plans and regulations
- Assist with hygiene, toileting, feeding, and mobility
- Support engagement in activities and monitor for changes in health or behavior
- Assist with participant arrival, transitions, and daily routines
- Document care, medications, and incidents in compliance with AHCA standards
- Respond to emergencies and complete required reports
- Foster a clean, respectful, and safe environment
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all program policies
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current Florida LPN license in good standing
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with older adults or individuals with dementia preferred
- Alzheimer’s/dementia care certification a plus
- Strong communication, documentation, and observation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage care responsibilities with compassion
- Must pass a Level 2 background screening and meet DOEA and AHCA employment eligibility
- Must provide a current statement of good health including a negative TB test
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role (standing, lifting, assisting with mobility)
- Must comply with Drug-Free Workplace policy
- May require occasional travel between Vero Beach and Sebastian locations
