OVERVIEW
The Education Technician will work closely with SRT's Education & Volunteer Department and community partners on the coordination and implementation of Nature Explorers, an after-school program offered to 1st-3rd graders at VUSD elementary schools. This will include preparing for and leading field trips for 1st-3rd graders at the Kaweah Oaks Preserves on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, as well as occasional Saturday field trips.
The Education Technician may also occasionally support SRT staff in implementing a variety of grant-funded educational and stewardship programs aimed at creating a lasting bond between local communities and the land, thereby inspiring future land conservation and stewardship.
The Education Technician will spend most of their time in the field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work closely with SRT Education & Volunteer staff and community partners to prepare coordinate and lead after school field trips on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for 1st-3rd graders from VUSD elementary schools, as well as occasional Saturday mornings
- Occasionally assist with the day-to-day operations of assigned SRT Education & Volunteer programs, which may include :
- School-based programs
- Service, work-based, project-based learning programs and internships for students, with emphasis on opportunities related to stewardship of SRT preserves
- Field trips at SRT preserves for students
- Community-based programs
- Volunteer programs for adults and families, in collaboration with Stewardship and Education & Volunteer staff
- Education and volunteer events at SRT preserves for participants of all ages
- Other duties as assigned, including
- Provide direct assistance with restoration and resource enhancement projects on SRT preserves in coordination with the SRT Stewardship program
SUPERVISION
The Education Technician reports to the Education & Volunteer Program Manager and works closely with other Education & Volunteer staff and AmeriCorps Members.

COMPENSATION
This is an hourly position on Band 1 of SRT's compensation structure. The position offers an hourly rate between $18-$20 for new employees, depending on education and experience.
