Activities Director

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to lead and enhance the recreational programs for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care and a commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals in assisted living and memory care settings. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical wellness among residents.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
• Plan events that encourage participation and foster community engagement.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure activities are well-organized and adequately staffed.
• Conduct assessments to identify residents' interests, abilities, and needs related to recreational therapy.
• Facilitate group activities that promote socialization, cognitive skills, and physical health.
• Maintain an organized schedule of events, ensuring all materials and resources are prepared in advance.
• Collaborate with families and caregivers to enhance resident participation in activities.
• Monitor resident engagement and adapt programs based on feedback and observed interests.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards during all activities.

Requirements

• Experience in recreational therapy or event planning is preferred.
• Knowledge of memory care practices and aging issues counseling is highly desirable.
• Strong skills in schedule management to effectively coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
• Background in social work or senior care is beneficial.
• Ability to assist residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
• A compassionate approach towards assisting seniors in achieving their fullest potential through engaging activities.
• Certification or training relevant to recreational therapy or senior activity programming is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 44 per week
