JOB SUMMARY
Under indirect supervision, Inspector II is responsible for inspecting, auditing, and reporting on materials, processes, and products, using various measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with the company’s quality standards and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- In the absence of the supervisor will review the overall work schedule of the Inspectors and prioritize work distribution.
- Reviews protocol and validation procedures prior to inspecting products.
- Use gages, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools, and run test stations to perform inspections.
- Inspects materials received, in-process, and final products to various tolerances.
- Enters quality data into the quality management system.
- Reports any non-conformances to QA Supervisor.
- Documents and monitors inspection records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three (3) plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- A technical degree and two plus years of quality control experience in receiving inspection experience preferred.
- Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, perform repetitive tasks, and have good attention to detail.
- Experience in operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.
- Must be able to read and understand production drawings and blueprints.
- Must be able to read and understand specifications and recognize non-conformances.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly to manufacturing and QA personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of manufactured parts and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite inspection duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
