Activities Director
Do you have a passion for developing and running activity programs for seniors? Come put your experience and enthusiasm to work with us. As Activities Director, you will have a direct impact on the lives of individuals in the Adult Day Health program.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement therapeutic, social, recreational, and educational activity programs for the Adult Day Health (“ADH”) individuals served
- Ensure that activity programs meet the needs of each person according to their individualized plan of care
- Document each individual’s participation, pertinent changes, and progress
- Participate in the review of each individual’s care plan
- Provide ongoing assessment of the individual’s physical and psychological status
- Direct and supervise assigned ADH staff members
- Plan and schedule activities and social events for the ADH individuals
- Develop monthly calendars of activities and events
- Coordinate recreational activities and outings
- Develop and implement educational programs for ADH individuals and staff members
- Evaluate appropriateness and effectiveness of activities for individuals and groups
- Supervise assigned staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, training, and ongoing support; make recommendations for decisions related to employment; resolve employee problems within position responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree, or higher, in Recreation, Activity Therapy, or a related social or behavioral science
- NCCAP (National Certification Council for Activities Professionals) or NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification) required CPR and First Aid, as required by state regulations
- All state-required training and certification completed in mandated timeframes
- 3 years of experience in the coordination of an activities program within a social or recreational setting, with 1 or more years providing activity programs and services to a population with special needs, preferably the elderly
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
