Description

Sewer Equipment is currently seeking applicants for an entry level Design Engineer position at our Dixon, IL manufacturing facility.


Responsibilities include:

  • Use of mechanical design software to create and refine complete mechanical design concepts for robust and low-risk machine designs that will complete the project scope within the budget and schedule parameters defined by the project scope.
  • Know and understand the project scope, specifications, and any regulatory requirements that are applicable to the machine being developed.
  • Complete mechanical design analysis as required to ensure the machine design will meet all project requirements.
  • Create complete, organized, and detailed drawings that fully convey information to outside departments in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Create and execute Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) that fully document and instruct action items to be taken.
  • Support the manufacturing and testing of machines as required.
  • Work with the purchasing team to continually improve quality and costs of purchased components and assist with any questions vendors may have related to design.
  • Review and revise chassis specifications based on machine requirements regarding option content, weights, size, and power.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at a time from beginning to end.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution, other Engineering fields will be considered equally.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs
  • Proficiency in using 2D and 3D CAD design software. Experience with AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, and AutoDesk Vault preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with finite element analysis is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate clearly mechanical concepts and designs.
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, and organized.
  • Must be able to work in fast paced environment to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong knowledge of material and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • 0-2 years of in field engineering experience.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office and assembly shop floor environment. Employees may be requested to travel on rare occasions to assist with any number of functions related to the company. while performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile.

  • This position requires the occasional use of basic hand tools.
  • This position requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping for long lengths of time.

This is a full-time salaried position, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
