JOB TITLE: Material Handler 3
DEPARTMENT: Shipping and Receiving
REPORTS TO: Traffic Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the coordination of timely and accurate shipping documents and functions. Operates a variety of material handling equipment.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Load and unload material from trucks and vans using a lift truck, clamp truck, manual jack, or dolly.
2. Operate trailer restraints, dock plates, overhead doors, banding, and wrapping equipment.
3. Deliver raw material, including roll stock, to production areas.
4. Collect loads of finished goods from pressroom.
5. Weigh and count finished goods using computerized scale, prepare related documentation.
6. Verify inventory counts for production teams.
7. Deliver general inventory (skids, cartons, labels, etc.) to the pressroom.
8. Prepare finished loads for shipment, including flagging/labeling, wrapping, banding and staging.
9. Store materials in a neat and orderly fashion in the warehouse.
10. Accurately scan materials to and from warehouse, dock and production locations.
11. Check accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents.
12. Assist in maintaining warehouse and facility security.
13. Assist in housekeeping for warehouse, scale, inside and outside and dock areas.
14. Inventory and maintain packaging and shipping supplies, including pallets, pallet tops, wrap, cartons, labels, banding and other related materials.
15. Inspect lift truck at start of shift and perform general shift maintenance.
16. Weigh and count empty pallets and deliver to pressroom as needed.
17. Operate banding and wrapping equipment as needed.
18. Assist in training new personnel.
19. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB SKILLS: Ability to operate a propane powered or electric forklift and/or clamp truck. Accurate use of handheld scanner. Ability to read and understand shipping documents. Average English oral and written communication skills and math skills. Some typing and computer skills.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of various types of material handling equipment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office 2000.
EDUCATION & TRAINING: High School diploma or GED required. Safety training as required by OSHA regulations. Operation of the Segerdahl computer system, use of required documentation. Safe operation of lift truck equipment and re-certification of operator's license. Operation of equipment used in the shipping, receiving, and warehouse areas.
EXPERIENCE: One to three years of experience in warehousing, or shipping and receiving helpful. Prior experience in operating a forklift/clamp truck helpful.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Full motion/motor skills in all body parts. Ability to stand or walk for entire shift. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
