OVERVIEW:

The Illinois Welcoming Center (IWC) program is a one-stop-shop program model that provides an array of services to immigrants, refugees, asylees, humanitarian parolees and Limited English Proficient (LEP) populations. THe IWC has four fundamental components: Comprehensive Case Management, Community Education, Community Alliances, and Co-location. The goals of the IWC program are to strengthen the overall human service delivery system for immigrants, refugee, asylees, humanitarian parolees, and LEP populations, and to build the capacity of organizations serving these populations.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Case Manager will be responsible for helping identify and recruit potential clients for the program. They will build a network of services for clients and facilitate connections to needed resources. This could be referrals to housing, food, academic, job placement, medical, and/or transportation. They will support the Case Manager Lead in participating and coordinating outreach activities, workshops, and Community Alliance meetings.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit individuals and families using a wide range of traditional and nontraditional engagement and referral efforts
- Conduct outreach events, workshops in cooperation with Program Manager and Case Manager Lead
- Network with community organizations, small businesses and other venues to conduct outreach
- Perform intake screening and assessment for each of their clients
- Connect clients directly with providers and ensure that services are accessible and provided when needed
- Perform role of “coach” to clients when needed, to support meeting goals and accompanying individuals and families to appointments as needed
- Participate in learning cohort sessions and activities
- Advocates for the needs of immigrant, refugee and asylee families in the community
- Maintain a case load of 30 participants
Requirements
Qualifications:
- An associate's in human services or related field, preferred;
- A minimum of two years working with families, preferable immigrant populations
- Extensive knowledge of local resources and service providers is preferred.
- Case management experience
Skills:
- Spanish Speaking, bi-cultural required
- Must have car
- Display effective inter-personal skills, a dedication to helping individuals and families reach their goals, and a strong attention to detail in the coordination of services and care.
- Knowledge of trauma informed care
- Displays sensitivity and responsiveness to culture differences and unique needs of the service population, specifically immigrant, refugee, asylee.
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Persistent personality that is willing to follow up with immigrant, refugee, asylee families who are in crisis and may have undependable communication.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness.
Salary : $42,000 - $45,000
