SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENT
Under general supervision, this position works in one or more departments and is responsible for the supervision of subordinates to assure optimum utilization of manpower, tools, material and equipment to produce the greatest quantity of quality production at the least controllable cost in a safe manner.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Utilizes good training, safety, job relations and job methods in supervising subordinates.
- Supervises all assigned operations on the shift according to established manufacturing specifications within production schedules, cooperating with other departments to assure proper product flow.
- Gathers, computes, records and compiles data for production, cost, quality, maintenance or injury reports.
- Notifies proper authorities of production, schedules, scrap and quality problems, and sees that an adequate supply of materials and equipment is available.
- Conducts regular safety meetings and sees that all safety and health programs are enforced.
- Safeguards all company property and sees that all tools and equipment are in good operating condition and maintains work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe manner.
- Is attentive to plant emission problems and take immediate action to get under control.
- Supports and participates in TQM process.
- Perform other duties as required that are in support of the department's goals.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- 4 year college degree in Business or Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
- General computer skills, including knowledge of Windows 95, Excel and Word.
- Must have 3 or more years of related work experience, specifically, direct production supervision experience in a similar industry.
- Prior experience supervising or directing hourly employees, preferably in a union environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all areas of the company, including hourly employees, supervisory staff, department managers, maintenance and engineering staff.
- Must have very strong written and good verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work well without close supervision and make effective decisions.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Must have strong analysis/problem solving skills and good mathematical ability.
