Position Summary
Infection Prevention and Control support services provided include but are not limited to: surveillance, prevention and control of infections, reporting, control measures, consultations, and education. Reports to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control and is responsible to the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and Infection Prevention and Control Chairman.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Well lighted, air conditioned work area. Low noise level. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extensive periods. Subject to long irregular hours. Moderate heaving lifting (0-50lbs), reaching, stooping, pulling, bending, and twisting. Frequently exposed to blood, and body fluids, including infectious diseases. Able to use medical, office equipment, and telecommunications devices on a regular basis.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Graduate of an accredited School of nursing or accredited medical technologist program.
- Current licensure as RN with the Georgia Board of Nursing or American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a hospital setting.
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred.
- Eligible to attend HIV Counseling Course.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patient/family units and other staff members.
- Able to communicate clearly with diverse population of patients/ family/ staff.
- Ability to work well as an individual and as a team member.
- Ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities and use problem-solving techniques in a positive manner.
- Ability to document clinical information, assist in creating policies and procedures, teach, and provide learning opportunities.
- Computer skills necessary for data entry and communication.
