What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Mechanic position at Shanty Creek?
Position Summary:
Responsible for complete maintenance of all golf course, grounds, fleet and ski equipment. (I.e. groomers, snowmobiles, mowers, trucks, vans etc.).
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain equipment used on the golf course, grounds, and ski slopes.
- Keep records on all vehicles related to the resort.
- Will do tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations and all other minor repairs to keep All resort vehicles in proper working order.
- Maintain professional record keeping and updated service logs.
Professional Experience:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years professional experience as a mechanic.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
Required Skills:
- Must be well versed in engine repair and maintenance. Both 2 and 4 cycle.
- Must be able to diagnosis and repair any and all problems related to the mechanics of the internal combustion engine and the equipment they are attached to.
- Electrical troubleshooting a must.
- Should have knowledge in both gas and diesel motors.
- Must have the ability to weld using any type of welding equipment.
- Certification in hydraulic, air brakes and exhaust systems is of higher value.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to work with others and have good communication skills. A positive attitude is expected.

- Work is performed entirely outdoors with exposure to all elements: i.e., insects, snakes, poison ivy, extreme cold and hot temperatures, snow and rain.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 to 100 lbs occasionally. Necessary for loading and/or removal of debris, tools, tires, hooking up equipment, etc. May vary each day with work load and required tasks.
- Work is performed on varying shifts on both weekdays and weekends.
