Position Summary:
Take a leading role in the daily operation and maintenance of all Information System supported equipment and systems. This includes computers, peripherals, telecommunication equipment and network infrastructure. Potentially oversee some tasks as assigned by the IT Director to the Level I IT Techs.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Telecommunications:
- Ability to monitor and maintain the Mitel phone system in all 4 locations.
- Ability to hookup, disconnect and troubleshoot analog/digital/IP phone lines.
- Ability to program new analog/digital/IP phone extensions into the appropriate switch.
- Networking:
- Configure PC’s to access the network/domain as required.
- Troubleshoot hubs, switches and PC’s on the network.
- Install and troubleshoot cabling for network connections.
- Ability to program/update/flash network switches, routers, firewalls and AP’s.
- Existing Systems (POS/PMS: Maestro, Micros Simphony, RTP, EZlinks, Sage Accounting, Mitel Phone (including all but not limited to):
- Install new terminals, PC’s, printers and peripherals as required for appropriate system.
- Ability to add, change and delete users in the various systems.
- Troubleshooting existing connections.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting interfaces between the systems.
- Assisting users in accessing the systems.
- Ability to monitor backups of the systems.
- Perform highest level support on these systems working with vendor support or other means to quickly and effectively resolve issues.
- Miscellaneous Duties:
- Assist users in resolving computer related problems such as inoperable hardware, software or peripheral devices.
- Install troubleshoot and repair various equipment to include: Multi-function printers, PC’s, Servers, Monitors.
(including all but not limited to).
- Possess a working knowledge of various operating systems to include current MS Windows and Linux versions.
- Install and maintain backup and anti-virus software onto PC’s as required.
- Make recommendations for potential improvements in IS systems, policies and practices.
- Work with co-workers to research problems and find solutions.
- Install IS equipment.
- Assist in training level I techs on unique and vendor-based applications as assigned and necessary to support and troubleshoot.
Provide level II support and development of ISP Internet infrastructure and customer connections as required. Train level I techs on this infrastructure as required
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 4 years professional experience equivalent to an Information Systems Technician I is required for this position. Current fluency in MS Windows OS (servers and workstation) current versions. Linux knowledge and support ability ideal.
Education:
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalency is required; an associate degree in Computer Science or applicable technical is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Programming and/or operational familiarity with current Windows operations systems, desktop, and server; current Microsoft Office applications; POS applications familiarity (ideally in: Micros Simphony, Maestro PMS, Ezlinks Golf/Retails, and RTP).
- Network architecture knowledge and ability to design and troubleshoot such in multiple VLAN network infrastructure.
- Familiarity in telecommunication systems and infrastructure – ideally in: Mitel
- Familiarity in ISP management, design, and system support.
- Knowledge of network security models and disaster recovery planning.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, excellent communication skills with staff and end-users, available for on-call duties as scheduled.
- The ability to work on assignments without direct, continued supervision.
- Mechanical aptitude suitable to maintain departmental equipment.
- The ability to work on varied multiple assignments on an as-needed basis.
- Excellent overall aptitude in computers/phone/electronic equipment programming.

- The general working environment for this position is office-based. However, in supporting systems this position could be subjected to all weather conditions in all seasons – some work is required outdoors, in crawl space areas, climbing ladders or scaffolding and working in ceilings.
- The possibility of static or electric shock, high noise levels in some areas, moving mechanical parts, some chemicals used for maintenance of hardware, some dusty environments may be encountered.
- This position must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
