Job Overview:
The tool maker produces, modified and repairs the tools used in the manufacturing process to make products.
Responsibilities and Duties Required
- Assemble fixtures.
- Inspect equipment including, fixtures, gauges, cutting tools, and machine.
- Build parts per drawings, sketches, and models.
- Check work using all types of inspection equipment
- Perform all tasks in a safe and reasonable manner per Shapes Employee Handbook.
- Maintain a clean safe work environment and contributes to Shapes 6S program and Lean concepts.
- Maintain cooperative and professional interactions and follows Shapes Code of Ethics.
- Complete documentation accurately and scans on/off shop orders correctly.
- Utilize and understand operation process sheets and inspects parts per character control sheets.
- Notify Supervisor immediately should there be damage, defect, or inability to proceed efficiently.
- Work required over-time as needed to support Customer deliveries.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Must have 15 years of tool and die experience
- Written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to stay focused, adapt to change positively or negatively, and close attention to detail.
- Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of basic math and computer functions.
- Ability to read and follow company processes. Policies and procedures.
- Ability to multitask, work effectively and efficiently to shop order standards.
- Ability to manufacture prototype parts and fixtures to close tolerances using any shop equipment necessary to complete.
- Must have knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance.
- Must be familiar with GD&T.
- Ability to identify, prepare, and load fixtures and cutting tools in CNC and create offsets.
- Ability to read and understand G-Code and conversational programming.
- Proficient in use of manual lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.
- The ability to use CNC equipment as well as the ability to write programs on demand.
- Ability to operate manual mills, lathes, honing, and line bores.
- Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.
- Must be willing to train co-workers in aspects of the shop.
Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be in good physical condition and be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for length of shift.
- May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
- May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts.
Visual Acuity:
- Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected.
- Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to read computer screen and documents.
Hearing Ability:
- Normal hearing or corrected to normal.
- Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.
Working Conditions:
- Factory environment.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours.
- High noise levels from operating machines.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
- Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
- Skin exposure to chemicals associated with manufacturing.
1st shift 7:00AM – 3:30PM (Monday – Friday)
Salary : $40,800 - $51,700
