Job Title: Commissary Worker

Reports To: Commissary Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Prepares food items based on recipes ensuring that all food products have been prepared correctly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Prepares all food products according to the prescribed methods and within the time limitations
required.

· Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes and silverware.

· Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.

· Informs management when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly.

· Carries food supplies, equipment and utensils to and from storage and work areas

· Portions and wraps food.

· Reads charts to determine amount and kind of food and supplies to be packaged.

· Packages food in route cooler.

· Maintains and abides by state and OSHA safety, sanitaion and Health Department regulations.

• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:

· High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred

· Previous food service experience preferred but not required

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a standing position for 100 percent of the time while working in the Commissary. The individual needs to frequently move about in the Commissary. They use their hands continuously while performing all job duties. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and Commissary. They must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds. Uses knives and sharp items on a daily basis. Operates a variety of cooking equipment. Required to wear hairnets, gloves, and smocks.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to freezing conditions, sharp objects, and hot surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employees are required to wear gloves, aprons, and hair nets while working in the Commissary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
