Summary
We are currently seeking a Medical Receptionist with Expertise in Venipuncture to join our team at Shelby Research LLC. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing essential support in managing appointments and ensuring a smooth patient flow. Your contributions will play a vital role in our mission to deliver outstanding healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood collection with minimal discomfort to patients.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, label, and ensure accurate documentation and handling.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor procedures.
- Record patients' vital signs, medical history, and symptoms accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed by a provider.
- Maintain exam rooms and ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines at all times.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures, medication instructions, and follow-up care.
- Schedule appointments, answer phones, and perform other front-office administrative tasks as needed.
- Monitor and restock medical supplies and phlebotomy equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification in venipuncture or phlebotomy (e.g., CPT, CCMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of venipuncture experience in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well with patients of all ages.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
