Job Summary
We are a plaintiff-centered litigation firm and seek a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney interested in growth opportunities. The job entails working within a diverse range of civil litigation practice areas, including personal injury, insurance bad faith, construction litigation, and land use. This role offers exposure to diverse practice areas, helping the candidate develop legal experience, career growth, and knowledge while contributing to meaningful client outcomes. The role entails conducting legal research, drafting, assisting with and conducting mediations, working in a team environment with existing staff, client intake and screening, assisting in case preparation, and conducting court proceedings. Locations are on Hilton Head Island, SC and Beaufort, SC.

Pay is flexible dependent upon experience and not necessarily bound by the published rates. Firm is open to different incentive plans as well to qualified candidates.

Candidates should be motivated in working independently with requisite supervision, and developing their own case load over time. The ideal candidates will hold efficient problem solving and independent thinking skills, be willing to be active in the Beaufort County community, and show an impressive academic and professional background. Pay packages are competitive and flexible dependent upon experience and background and necessarily tied to range published.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using Lexis
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
  • Assist in preparing cases for hearings and trial by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and coordinating with clients and witnesses.
  • Professionally negotiate to achieve favorable resolutions with adjusters and opposing counsel.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate records within the law office management system.
  • Stay informed about current laws and regulations affecting practice areas such as personal injury, insurance, and construction law.
  • Attend court proceedings as needed to observe or assist attorneys during hearings or trials, and serve as counsel for clients at hearings.
  • Collaborate with team members on legal strategies and administrative tasks related to client cases.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Member of the SC Bar
  • Strong knowledge and interest of various legal practice areas including automobile insurance, torts, and other areas of interest.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Lexis and ability to efficiently conduct accurate and complete legal research.
  • Excellent writing and word processing skills for drafting clear, accurate, and persuasive legal documents.
  • Effective and professional negotiation skills to advocate for clients’ interests.
  • Exhibit positive professionalism and courtesy.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple cases simultaneously, including operating within required case management software system.
  • This position is ideal for candidates committed to delivering exceptional legal service across diverse practice areas while continuously developing their professional expertise in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to work fulltime in office in Hilton Head Island and/or Beaufort, South Carolina.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
