What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports: SHS Athletic Director position at Sheridan High School?
Areas of Responsibility:
Planning, scheduling and supervising athletic events, supporting volleyball, football, basketball, softball and track and field coaches and athletes. The athletic director will provide the leadership for the control over the total high school athletic program.
All Athletic Directors are paid on the extra duty schedule for time involved in activities normally occurring after school hours. It is understood that many responsibilities inherent in student activities require extra hours without additional compensation. This position is directly responsible to the Principal.
Qualifications Required:
Maintain regular communication with the coaches, facilities and the principal regarding the athletic programs; represent the school, when appropriate, at meetings and conferences relating to athletics; promote a good public relations within and outside the district; maintain a total written inventory of all athletic equipment for each sport and submit copies to the principal annually at the end of the sport season; assist coaches in preparing building athletic budget and submit the budge to the building principal.
Desires a person who can create a positive culture: being positive and encouraging to student athletes; encouraging student athletes to be academically successful; believes all athletes and athletic programs can be successful and able to support all athletic programs; seek and find best coaches possible to teach athletes the skills need to be successful.
Hold a current first aid/CPR card
Experience at comparable level of coaching
Mini-bus certification
High School coaching & budgeting experience desired
