Our clients are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the full accounts payable function and lead day-to-day AP operations. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, maintaining strong internal controls, managing staff, and partnering with internal stakeholders to support overall financial operations.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing both people and processes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment runs
- Lead, train, and mentor accounts payable staff; set performance expectations and review workloads
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards
- Oversee vendor setup and maintenance, including W-9s and 1099 reporting
- Reconcile AP subledger to the general ledger and support month-end and year-end close activities
- Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, and other internal teams to improve processes and efficiencies
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor requests
- Identify opportunities to streamline AP workflows and implement process improvements
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 5 years of accounts payable experience, including prior leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and best practices
- Experience with accounting systems or ERPs (experience may vary by client)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in high-volume or multi-entity AP environments
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives or system implementations
- Strong attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset
