SUMMARY
The Wellness Assistant assists with the operations of the Vitality and Aquatics Center; ensuring the safety of the members and responding to requests for information.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the operations of the Vitality and Aquatics Center to ensure safety of members, maintenance of facilities, and proper procedures are followed.
- Provide supervision during independent exercise and exercise classes, providing individualized guidance as necessary.
- Facilitate laundry process including cleaning, organization and storage of all items.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and organization requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external resources in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and facilities.
- Assist with facilitation of classes as directed.
- Support other Rehab responsibilities as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One or more years’ experience working with geriatric population in fitness setting preferred.
- Lifeguard certification preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certified through American Red Cross required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Able to teach a variety of land and aquatic classes, demonstrate use of exercise equipment, swim well and possess knowledge of water safety.
- Flexible and productive in an environment with regular interruptions.
- Display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
- Possess effective problem solving skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, HRIS, and other applications. Must be skilled in database management and record keeping.
- Understand and maintain confidential nature of organization and client information in accordance to HIPAA regulations and corporate compliance standards, including appropriate access of data housed within the Information Technology infrastructure.
- Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization in accordance with our PROUD standards.
- Able to understand and follow facility and department safety and emergency procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB
Incumbent must be able to:
- Perform light work, with occasional or negligible lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Effectively communicate, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
- Able to effectively use office equipment to review and create information.
- Work at a desk for extended periods and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer.
- Frequently stand and walk to move around office/building repeatedly throughout the day.
- Able to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime, nights and weekends as required including attending events/meetings as needed.
- Obtain reliable transportation when necessary.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
- Use a variety of equipment needed for recreation activities including a variety of strength and conditioning equipment.
- Use telephone, computer and standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is primarily indoors, exposure to hot/humid environment in pool area. Occasional exposure to the outdoors and inclement weather when traveling between sites. May be at risk of exposure to blood, bodily fluids, other potentially infectious material, chlorine, chemicals, and cleaning chemicals.

Needing assistance on Wednesday evenings (3-7 PM) and Every other Sat from 9 AM - 4 PM, and as needed
4-11 hours/week
