What are the responsibilities and job description for the Porter position at Shoppa's Material Handling?
The Shop Porter position is responsible for working in the shop supporting the technicians and maintaining the shop by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, clearing debris throughout, empty trash, and other tasks as needed. This position requires you to assist with special projects or duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):
- Sweep, shovel, or vacuum loose debris or salvageable scrap into containers and remove from work areas
- Takes direction from Lead Technicians regarding actions needed to resolve customer satisfaction concerns. Fully understands and promotes our Customer Satisfaction Standards.
- Responsible for following company safety rules as well as maintaining job site safety. Escalates any concerns to the Lead Technicians.
- Keeps the shop floor and yard organized
- Running parts and supplies for the shop
- Move forklifts to various areas in the shop
Other Duties:
- All other duties or special projects as assigned.
Physical Job Demands:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stoop, squatting, sitting, and, driving etc. Excessive noisy shop environment, exposure to welding flash, fumes, oil/grease/dirt, solvents, and non-controlled seasonal temperature variations.
Qualifications and Requirements (include, but not limited to):
- Experience working in a tire shop, oil lube or training related to mechanics preferred
- Clean driving record
- Desire to learn about forklift repair including tires, battery/charging system and much more
Special Skills Needed:
- Dependable attendance and timeliness
- Ability to work well with others
- Able to work with frequent interruptions
