Job Overview
Shriners Children's Lexington has an opportunity for a part time Recrational Therapist to join our Child Life/Recreational Therapy team.
The Recreational Therapist provides comprehensive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive family-centered recreation programs. The programs promote and maintain social, emotional, cognitive and physical skill development of the patient while promoting positive attitudes, confidence, and independence; thereby enhancing a child’s ability to lead a fulfilling lifestyle.
Responsibilities
As a part of the interdisciplinary team, the Recreational Therapist provides individual therapeutic recreation services and group recreation programs for children and adolescents hospitalized for orthopedic and/or burn surgical intervention or long term rehabilition programs. In this position, you'll provide abudnant play and normal life expleriences to promote development, understanding and to alleviate misconceptions to allow an opportunity for positive growth experiences by the patient.

Education
Bachelors degree required
Master's degree in Recreational Therapy preferred
Certification/Licensure
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required
Licensed or eligible to sit for licensure in state of practice (in states where applicable)CPR/BLS (per facility policy)Valid driver’s license (per facility policy)
