Shutts & Bowen LLP, a leading Florida law firm, seeks a Conflict Analyst to join our team in the Miami office.


The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and motivated individual for the Conflicts Analyst's role in the New Business & Conflicts Department. This is an exciting opportunity to assist attorneys with their compliance duties in a fast-paced environment researching and analyzing data associated with potential new business and new employees while contributing to the firm's success. The Conflicts Analyst works closely with attorneys, members of the New Business & Conflicts Department, and General Counsel to identify possible ethical and business-related conflicts of interest. This position offers the opportunity to assist in processing intake forms to ensure they meet Firm policies and business requirements. The role is critical to identifying potential risks, communicating possible resolutions, and securing the necessary approvals as part of the new business and new hire process. This position will require critical thinking, decisive judgment, and decision-making skills to identify the potential issues with bringing on new business and new employees to the Firm.


Essential Job Functions

  • Understand and perform the analysis and research process on all potential new business.
  • Verify that all searching is complete, consistent, and accurate and that all Firm conflict procedures have been followed.
  • Create a well-organized written analysis for attorneys.
  • Process requests for conflicts searches, perform the necessary research, and complete business intake forms.
  • Follow up on new business and conflict issues with department colleagues and attorneys when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members on new business, new employees, and projects, attention to deadlines and time-sensitive issues.
  • Respond to department email communications with accurate information promptly.
  • Interface with attorney and staff on behalf of the New Business and Conflicts Department.
  • Contribute to process, procedure, and technology improvements to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and training of other department employees.
  • Be available for overtime during evening hours and weekends.
  • Physical attendance and punctuality at the place of work.
  • Performs additional duties as instructed and assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of related experience, or equivalent combination required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without error, set priorities, and accommodate rush requests.
  • Knowledge of legal terms and legal matters to determine whether forms submitted include all required related parties.
  • Substantial analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Superior communication and customer service skills exercising courtesy and diplomacy.
  • Ability to think creatively about new solutions and drive best practices.
  • Physical attendance and punctuality at the place of work.


Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Including lift/carry, up to 10 pounds, typing/using a keyboard, writing by hand, collating/filing.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
