Job Summary
Antenna Research Associates (ARA) Product & Innovation Center is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to support existing contracts and R&D. The Product & Innovation Center develops new unique products and solutions to meet urgent needs in the MILCOM, RADAR, SATCOM and SIGINT/EW markets. Ideal candidates would be a system engineer with experience leading teams designing, integrating, and delivering Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) solutions. The ideal candidate understands the use cases for IFF in surveillance, air traffic control, and range instrumentation and will have experience working with commercial and military customers where the interrogator and transponder work with and without a cryptographic computer.

- In this role you will be designing solutions that comply with stated and derived requirements to be included in proposals.
- You will be the Subject Mater Expert in IFF Modes 1, 2, 3/A, C, 4, S, and ADS-B; Mode 5 and DoD AIMS certification.
- Lead the technical team through development and integration of our IFF solution(s) onto a variety of platforms resolving electrical and mechanical interference where that might occur.
- Conduct system level analysis, simulation and modeling of IFF performance in a variety of applications, including potential interference from other systems and develop modifications to resolve any issues.
- Define test scenarios and test resources needed in the lab and in the field to demonstrate our IFF meets customer requirements.
- Be a key contributor to trouble shooting and root cause analysis should problems be encountered within the IFF systems and/or with other platform equipment.
- Lead field integration and test activities for demonstrations.

Experience and Skills
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering role with system integration or test, with 5 years focused on IFF
- Knowledge of SATCOM or RADAR or SIGINT systems strong theoretical background in either RF system or signal processing.
- Experience with creating plans, test scripts, and or conducting performance analysis
- Experience with troubleshooting and debugging system level issues
- Experience with RF system testing Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers
- Experience with communication interfaces, Ethernet, RS-232, 422, 485
- Experience integrating HW and SW systems and assist with debugging.
- IFF or Phased Array System knowledge
- Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink, RF measurement, Python, C/C
Education:
- Master’s degree Electrical Engineering or Physics, PhD preferred
