What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Coordinator position at SightGrowthPartners?
SUMMARY: As the Surgical Coordinator, you will promote patient confidence in their medical care and make the surgical experience as smooth as possible while acting as the liaison between the office, surgical facility, patient, and primary care physician. You should have at least two years of relevant medical, surgical, or ophthalmic/optometric experience. Although knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology is preferred, training will be provided if you have no prior experience in eye care. You should be able to communicate professionally, be comfortable working in a medical environment, be highly organized, have a strong customer service background, possess excellent computer and organizational skills, and embody a welcoming/friendly demeanor.
Your schedule will vary, dependent on the operational hours of the office you are assigned to. You must have the flexibility to work within these hours of operation, including occasional weekends, early mornings, or late evenings as needed.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
• Schedule all patient surgeries, pre/post-operative appointments, including those with the patient’s primary care physician, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), and surgeon
• Arrange patient transportation if necessary
• Notify patient of all scheduled appointments
• Prepare surgery folders and collect all necessary paperwork prior to procedure
• Handle pre-operative testing as needed and directed by Physician
• Review and confirm medication list from patients
• Collect all pertinent information for upcoming procedure, such as bookings, lens orders, insurance, medical clearance, authorizations, signed consent forms, and transfers to surgical facility
• Answer all telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or primary care physicians concerning surgery and/or related concerns
• Contact patient after surgery to confirm medication schedule and answer any questions/concerns
• Other duties as assigned or directed by your supervisor
Required Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent required; College degree in business related course preferred
• Two years relevant surgical coordinator, ophthalmic/optometric, sales experience highly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Excellent attention to detail, along with the ability to organize and prioritize workload while managing multiple priorities
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual Spanish highly desirable

Pay Range - $21.00 to $27.00 based on experience
