CNC Machinist Mill Operator

Description

As a CNC Machinist for Signal Metal Industries, you will be an important member of the team that operates our fleet of large, heavy-duty, CNC and conventional mills, lathes, and drills; produces finished machined parts; produces pre-machined component parts for our fabrication shop; loads machines using overhead cranes or by hand; assists our programming department with writing and editing programs; maintains safe operations of all equipment.

Candidate MUST be able to set-up machines, edit CNC programs, and maintain all print specifications to three decimal places.

We have several 5" horizontal boring mills with integrated rotary tables and automatic tool changers, one large 6” horizontal boring mill, and 2 very large 7” horizontal boring mill. We also operate large vertical mills, large engine lathes, large CNC VTL's and large CNC drills.

We are looking for an EXPERIENCED, PROFESSIONAL, and FULLY-TRAINED individual to join our team. This is not just a "button pushing" position.

Qualifications

• Proven safety record. Takes precautions and preventive measures to ensure a safe work environment.

• Highly productive with minimal guidance or supervision.

• Understands tooling equipment, tooling processes, and industrial trends. Realizes that part accuracy is directly related to the accuracy of the tooling therefore the tooling must be handled with extreme care.

• Has the ability to read and understand detailed mechanical assembly drawings and detailed machining drawings.

• Experience with manufacturing equipment controls and instrumentation to monitor progress and determine actions. Understands the proper use of OD/ID micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to ensure accuracy of the part being machined.

• Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.

• Ideal candidate must have a minimum of 3 years on-the-job experience operating medium to large machines.

• Must have your own tools.

• Capable of heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds).

• Has excellent attendance and can handle responsibility.

• Must have a TEAM PLAYER attitude and work well with co-workers.
