Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Principal Engineer within Silfab Solar's Cell Technology Division, you will be responsible for driving innovation in the design and development of solar cell technologies. Your role is pivotal in shaping the future of our solar products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of efficiency, performance, and sustainability. Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, you will provide technical leadership and expertise to advance our position at the forefront of solar technology. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and development efforts in solar cell technologies, driving innovation and continuous improvement. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and performance of solar cells. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies into solar cell designs. 
  • Manage and oversee projects within the Cell Technology Division, ensuring they align with organizational goals and timelines. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of new technologies from concept to production. 
  • Work closely with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies. 
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

Qualifications

Skills/Traits:

  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in solar cell technologies, including advanced understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and performance optimization. 
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards ambitious technological goals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and stay abreast of emerging trends in solar technology. 
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely. 

Education/Experience: 

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. PHD preferred. 
  • Extensive experience (ideally 7 years) in research and development within the photo voltaic industry, preferably with a focus on solar cell technologies. 
  • Track record of successful project management and implementation of new technologies. 
  • Previous experience in a leadership or principal engineering role within a similar industry is highly desirable.
