POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Early Childhood Director, the Childcare Center Support Staff will be responsible for assisting with administrative duties, activities and providing coverage in classrooms and on the playground during meals and nap times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works at the front desk, checks in children, parents and visitors, answers phones.
- Provides coverage for classroom teachers, as needed.
- Relieves teachers and fills in to cover breaks, as needed.
- Assists the classroom teacher to implement learning experiences.
- Assists the classroom teacher to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in required training and workshops, as needed to meet NYS OCFS regulations.
- Performs other duties, as requested.
- As a 24-hour operation, all staff may be asked to work weekends, evenings, night shifts and/or holidays to serve our members, guests, and program participants.
- A high school diploma is required.
- Proficiency in office software preferred.
- Experience in a childcare setting is preferred.
- A friendly, professional demeanor is required; must have the ability to relate to children and develop positive relationships.
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
- Must hold or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications within 30 days of hire; must complete Child Abuse Prevention and Health and Safety course from NYS OCFS within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people representing all social and economic segments of the community.
