Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a Director of Respiratory Therapy to manage the day to day operations of the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Respiratory Therapy will manage the day to day operations of all respiratory services and staff in accordance with policies and procedures, federal, state and local regulations. This position contributes to the development of facility policies and programs, provides consultation with regard to pulmonary disorders and Respiratory Therapy Practice, and facilitates the achievement of maximum therapeutic care potential for patients. The Director will also perform the duties of a Respiratory Therapist to deliver patient care when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree with a major in respiratory therapy.
- Current NJ respiratory care practitioner license.
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certified respiratory therapist (CRT) OR registered respiratory therapist (RRT) certification required upon hire.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required upon hire (from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association).
- Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification required within 2 months of hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- Five (5) years of Respiratory Therapy experience in a hospital or health care setting and three (3) years in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity preferred.
- Knowledge of iSTAT analyzer procedures.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
