Position Summary

Financial Analysts are responsible for conducting research, providing analysis, and preparing reports/Power BI dashboards to support financial decision-making and profitability of the firm or a specific business unit/line. Analysts focus on multiple areas, such as budgeting, forecasting, trend analysis, retail branch performance, incentive plans, acquisition/divestiture scenario modeling, or staffing models. Analysts may analyze and interpret financial data of the firm and market and prepare reports on current or pending financial developments, financial policies and plans, market conditions and rates, and legal and accounting requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts complex analysis as it applies to area of responsibility.
  • Understands the whole financial function and the key business areas supported.
  • Provides financial, analytical, planning, and forecasting expertise to assist in the development and completion of projects.
  • Identifies and leads retail-specific special initiatives, functioning as project manager while partnering with multiple departments to complete each project
  • Works with IT and Data Office to define and source various types of data for specific projects as assigned.
  • Creates PowerBI Dashboards for Retail initiatives/projects
  • Reviews all standard retail reporting to ensure effectiveness, need, and cadence while identifying additional reporting needs
  • Supports the retail leadership team by providing timely financial analysis, reporting, and research as well as responding to ad-hoc requests
  • Develops solid partnership with all ancillary departments within the bank including Human Resources, Information Technology (IT), Marketing, Product Development, Finance, and Project Management
  • May develop specialized analytical tools for project or ongoing use and may also develop conclusions and courses of action to rectify discrepancies as well as analyses.
  • May resolve escalated issues and problems by conferring with staff.
  • Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Skills
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to work efficiently and productivity with both intra and inter-departmental associates and project teams.

  • Education and/or Experience
  • BS/BA Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field is required, and
  • 2 years’ work-related experience and / or training preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, financial model-building and interpretive statistics.
  • Ability to successfully plan, develop, lead, and execute projects.
  • Ability to effectively interpret, select appropriate techniques, take independent action, communicate and follow-through.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative communication skills with well-developed presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively, making good decisions based on business priorities and objectives.
  • Practical knowledge of financial analysis techniques and methodologies.
  • Ability to employ complex analytical tools and statistics to perform analysis and forecasting of financial and other business information.
  • Knowledge and understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Knowledge of accounting and the associated rules and regulations.

    • MS Office programs, Power BI, SQL experience/skills
