The Forum Shops at CaesarsPRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace has a 50,000 gallon saltwater aquarium on display. There are over 100 fish, including sharks and rays, on display for the general public to admire. This facility is unique in that it allows the aquarists to provide one-on-one care for the animals. Our aquarists dive into the main exhibit aquarium to hand feed the sharks, rays and zone feed the fish. The superb health and longevity of the animals is attributed to the personal care given to each of the species.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Prior experience working with an aquarium, ability to work effectively as a team member / leader and willingness to learn.
Ability to respond to changing priorities.
Strength and endurance to perform physical demands of essential job functions with or without accommodation.
Must be able to lift 50lbs by self, 75lbs assisted; must be able to work in and around cold saltwater and electrical equipment.
Must be willing and able to work on weekends and holidays, including unexpected times due to life support needs.
SCUBA certification
Knowledge of water chemistry as it relates to maintaining aquarium habitat.
Monitor and maintain all equipment that is associated with live animals to include; pumps, sand filters, and other equipment that is critical to animal health.
Must be able to dive at least 2 times per work week, days might be consecutive. Dives can last from 15 minutes to 4 hours. Dives over 90 minutes will be discussed and planned to ensure divers heath and safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree / Certification in Biology or a related field would be desirable.
Basic knowledge in computer software – Word and Excel
First aid, CPR knowledge or certification
